Moving in, moving out: the clean that protects your deposit

There is one day in the life of a home when every cupboard is empty, nothing is on the floor and no furniture is in the way. Whether you are arriving or leaving, that day is worth a deep clean — and on the way out it usually pays for itself.

Leaving

Inspections look at the same places every time: inside the oven, the fridge seals, the bathroom grout, the inside of cupboards, the balcony and the state of the walls. None of those is reached by a normal visit, and all of them are on the form.

Arriving

Whatever the previous tenant left is in the places you cannot see until you have lived there a week: the top of the kitchen units, behind the washing machine, the inside of the wardrobes. Doing it before the furniture arrives takes a fraction of the time.

Timing

Book it for the day after the furniture leaves, or the day before yours arrives. A deep clean around furniture is a different, slower job.
